NGFA's 109th Annual Convention

Hotel Del Coronado, San Diego, CA
March 30 - April 1, 2005

Hotel Alert!

Because of heavy pre-registration for the NGFA's convention, the headquarters hotel - the Hotel Del Coronado - is sold out of sleeping rooms. However, the NGFA has a list of nearby hotel alternatives, so if you have difficulty obtaining a room at the Hotel Del - or if you have a reservation at the Hotel Del that you're now not going to be able to use - please contact NGFA Meetings Manager Stacy Royston at sroyston@ngfa.org or by calling (202) 289-0873.

Unique and Historic....

Back by popular demand, the National Grain and Feed Association meets again in 2005 at the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Located on fashionable Coronado Island, The Del (as its referred to by those "in the know") was built in 1888. The entire Coronado peninsula was purchased for $110,000 by two developers who dreamed of building a hotel that would be "the talk of the western world." Billed as the "World's Largest Free-Standing Wooden Structure," The Del has been a favorite of dignitaries - Lyndon Johnson and every president since have visited. And show-business figures, such as Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe, brought cachet to The Del while filming there. Today, a $50 million restoration ensures that The Del will remain "the talk of the western world" well into the new millennium.

The Del's website can be found at http://www.thehoteldel.com.

Arrival and Departure Suggestions

A detailed convention schedule can be accessed by clicking here. Some suggested arrival and departure dates are provided for your travel planning purposes:

Suggested Arrival Date: Tuesday, March 29 or
Wednesday Morning, March 30

Two major open forums featuring agricultural leaders from Canada, Mexico and other important Western hemisphere countries, as well as two key rail issues -- fuel surcharges and rail car seals policies -- will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. In addition, NGFA committees will conduct substantive work session meetings on Wednesday afternoon that will be open to all convention registrants. There’s no better way to get an executive briefing on the most
important issues confronting your business, and to share your views on how NGFA committees should address these matters.

Suggested Departure Date: On or After Saturday, April 2.

Plan to stay for the Friday evening “Banquet-on-the-Beach” featuring the fabulous band, Surf City Allstars, whose members have performed with the Beach Boys! This is the same band that received rave reviews at the last San Diego convention. More information about the “Banquet-on-the-Beach” can be accessed by clicking here.
