John Brewer Named New Associate Administrator at USDA Foreign Ag Service



Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 2 announced the appointment of John D. Brewer to be associate administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS). 

Brewer most recently was with the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, where he worked on intelligence and finance-related projects for the U.S. Defense, Justice, Homeland Security and Treasury Departments, as well as for private-sector financial institutions like Bank of America and Wachovia North America.  He also was senior analyst in the Office of Global Risk Assessments at the American International Group (AIG).  Prior to working at Booz Allen Hamilton, he spent more than a decade in the federal government with the Departments of State, Treasury and Defense.  His previous federal government work included issues related to U.S. policy toward Latin America and the Caribbean, U.S. counter-narcotics policy and anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist financing programs.  A South Carolina native, Brewer was graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga., with degrees in history and English, and received a master's degree in diplomatic history from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
