NGFA adjusts timelines under rules used in barge trade, effective Aug. 1

By Charlie Delacruz, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary The NGFA Board of Directors this month approved changes to the NGFA Trade Rules that establish timelines for the application of a barge to a contract under the Barge Trade Rules and providing billing instructions under the Barge Freight Trading Rules. Previously, the trading parties had seven days under the Barge Trade Rules to apply a barge from the date of the bill of lading and three days under the Barge Freight Trading Rules to provide billing instructions. 2020 Trade Rules booklets now available

The 2020 edition of the NGFA Trade Rules and Arbitration Rules Booklet now is available. The new booklet incorporates changes ratified in March during the business meeting at NGFA’s annual convention. Copies of the rules may be downloaded at ngfa.org. Printed copies of the booklet are available to NGFA members for $10 each for one to five copies, and $8 each for six or more. Lacy Holleman
Manager of Legal Affairs and Arbitration

Lacy provides staff support for one of NGFA’s premier member services – its more than century old system of industry trade rules and arbitration that facilitates the efficient marketing of grains, oilseeds and their derived products. She also works on contracting, legal and other related matters.

An Arkansas native, Lacy received her undergraduate degree with a double major in history and Russian studies from the University of Tulsa (Okla.) and her law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Prior to joining NGFA’s staff in November 2020, she managed a local business at the Pentagon and completed mediation training required by the North Carolina Supreme Court for those seeking to serve as mediators for settlement conferences and other settlement procedures in North Carolina Superior Court civil actions. She also has worked as an assistant for a law firm in her native state.
