NGFA releases new interactive safety training module on ‘Lockout/Tagout’

ARLINGTON, Va., February 9, 2021 -- The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has issued a new, interactive and free training module that thoroughly covers a vital safety procedure for all grain, feed and processing facilities – Lockout/Tagout. Lockout/Tagout is a safety procedure used to ensure that machines that can pose a safety hazard are shut off or tagged-out properly so they are not  started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or repair work.  This procedure requires that hazardous energy sources be “isolated and rendered inoperative” before work is started ... Barge Digital Transformation (BDT) platform to go live for soybeans, other commodities in early 2021

National Grain and Feed Digital Solutions (NGFDS) announced Nov. 30 that the Barge Digital Transformation (BDT) platform will be operational for soybeans and other commodities, including wheat, soybean meal and distillers dried grains, in early 2021. The platform has been operational for corn bills of lading since Nov. 1. NGFA announced its official partnership in July with the affiliated organization NGFDS to oversee the BDT platform. UGRSA rate renewal deadline is Jan. 26

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing an opportunity for warehouse operators to update storage and/or handling rates for warehouses that have a Uniform Grain and Rice Storage Agreement (UGRSA). A UGRSA is required to store commodities owned by the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC). The UGRSA letter sent to grain warehouses on Jan. 6 informs warehouse operators how to request changes to their storage and handling rates using the CCC 25-2 form. The submission deadline is Jan. 26. NGFA continues FSMA regional seminars with three in Minnesota

Lacy Holleman
Manager of Legal Affairs and Arbitration

Lacy provides staff support for one of NGFA’s premier member services – its more than century old system of industry trade rules and arbitration that facilitates the efficient marketing of grains, oilseeds and their derived products. She also works on contracting, legal and other related matters.

An Arkansas native, Lacy received her undergraduate degree with a double major in history and Russian studies from the University of Tulsa (Okla.) and her law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Prior to joining NGFA’s staff in November 2020, she managed a local business at the Pentagon and completed mediation training required by the North Carolina Supreme Court for those seeking to serve as mediators for settlement conferences and other settlement procedures in North Carolina Superior Court civil actions. She also has worked as an assistant for a law firm in her native state.
