NGFA announces Michael Seyfert as new president, CEO

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 4, 2021 – The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today announced that Michael J. Seyfert will become its new president and chief executive officer. Seyfert is scheduled to become NGFA’s top executive staff officer on March 1, succeeding Randy Gordon, who will retire by the end of March after serving nearly 43 years with the nation’s largest and most diverse agribusiness association – the last eight as its president and CEO. Lacy Holleman joins NGFA staff as manager of legal affairs and arbitration

NGFA is pleased to announce the hiring of Lacy Holleman to the newly created staff position of manager of legal affairs and arbitration. She joined the staff on Nov. 30. New members appointed to NGFA Board, Executive Committee

NGFA Chairman JoAnne Brouillette, under authority provided by NGFA’s Bylaws, has appointed two new members to fill vacancies on the NGFA Board of Directors. The newly appointed Board members are: Matt Ashton, chief executive officer of New Vision Cooperative, Brewster, Minn. Ashton previously served on the NGFA Board while serving as senior vice president for grain at Central Valley Cooperative in York, Neb.; and Dawn Caldwell, head of governmental affairs for Aurora Cooperative, Aurora, Neb. Difficult harvest looms after derecho hits Midwest

By Sarah Gonzalez, Director of Communications and Digital Media Estimates suggest 43 percent of Iowa’s 2020 corn and soybean crop has been damaged or destroyed by the derecho storm system that plowed through extensive areas of the Midwest on Aug. 10, destroying crops, buildings and grain storage structures across Iowa and neighboring states ahead of harvest. NGFA’s Fairfield named to FSPCA Executive Advisory Board

David Fairfield, NGFA’s senior vice president of feed, has been elected from a pool of more than 80 candidates to serve as a member of  the nine-member Executive Advisory Board (EAB) of the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA). Lacy Holleman
Manager of Legal Affairs and Arbitration

Lacy provides staff support for one of NGFA’s premier member services – its more than century old system of industry trade rules and arbitration that facilitates the efficient marketing of grains, oilseeds and their derived products. She also works on contracting, legal and other related matters.

An Arkansas native, Lacy received her undergraduate degree with a double major in history and Russian studies from the University of Tulsa (Okla.) and her law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Prior to joining NGFA’s staff in November 2020, she managed a local business at the Pentagon and completed mediation training required by the North Carolina Supreme Court for those seeking to serve as mediators for settlement conferences and other settlement procedures in North Carolina Superior Court civil actions. She also has worked as an assistant for a law firm in her native state.
