In a decision issued Dec. 2, the federal Surface Transportation Board (STB) invited qualified persons to apply to be listed on its roster of arbitrators for resolving rail disputes under the agency’s voluntary arbitration system.
In addition, the STB requires persons currently listed on its roster of arbitrators – which include several NGFA members – to notify the agency of their continued availability, confirm that their biographical information remains accurate and to update such information if warranted.
New applicants are to submit their experience with rail transportation and economic regulation, as well as professional or business experience, including agriculture, in the private sector. Each applicant also is to describe his or her training or experience in arbitration or other forms of dispute resolution, including the number of years of experience.
New and renewed/updated arbitrator applications are to be submitted through the agency’s e-filing system by Jan. 15. The efiling website may be accessed here, and the docket number to enter when filing is EP 730, Sub-No. 1.
