NGFA issues statement on STB Chairman Oberman   

ARLINGTON, Va., April 26, 2024 — Surface Transportation Board (STB) Chairman Martin Oberman announced today that he will retire from the Board on May 10. Chairman Oberman, who took office in January 2019, gave notice in November 2023 that he would not seek renomination to a second term and would depart the agency in early 2024.

National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) President and CEO Mike Seyfert issued the following statement:

“Under Chairman Martin Oberman’s leadership, NGFA members and staff have fostered an effective and communicative relationship with the STB. Since his appointment to the Board in 2019, Chairman Oberman has achieved significant regulatory milestones and emerged as a reliable asset for both agricultural shippers and railroads in Washington, D.C. On behalf of the entire NGFA community, we thank him for our work together and extend our best wishes to him as he embarks on future endeavors.”

The NGFA, established in 1896, consists of grain, feed, processing, exporting and other grain-related companies that operate facilities handling U.S. grains and oilseeds. Its membership includes grain elevators; feed and feed ingredient manufacturers; biofuels companies; grain and oilseed processors and millers; exporters; livestock and poultry integrators; and associated firms that provide goods and services to the nation’s grain, feed and processing industry.
