NGFA grateful that key ag priorities were advanced in Senate budget package

ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today commended the U.S. Senate for passing a budget reconciliation bill that contained several critical provisions supporting American agriculture, including enhancements to risk management tools, investments in research, and measures to promote U.S. goods abroad.

The bill also extends tax credits to help boost domestic renewable fuel production and makes permanent important tax policies for agricultural producers, businesses, and cooperatives.

“We appreciate the lawmakers who fought to include meaningful support for the grain traders, country elevators, cooperatives, and exporters who form the backbone of our food and feed system,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “We are especially grateful to Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman (R-Ark.) for his leadership in ensuring that important farm policy provisions were part of the final bill.”

The budget package now heads back to the U.S. House of Representatives for approval.

The NGFA advocates for long-term policies that strengthen supply chains, encourage innovation, and support a competitive and market-oriented farm economy. Seyfert said that the agricultural policy provisions in the budget bill take an important step in that direction.
