NGFA applauds passage of farm bill in the House, reauthorization of U.S. Grain Standards Act
ARLINGTON, Va., April 30, 2026 — The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today applauded the House of Representatives for passing a farm bill that delivers critical policy certainty for U.S. agriculture and includes a full reauthorization of the U.S. Grain Standards Act (USGSA).
NGFA commended members of the House Agriculture Committee – and the leadership of Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson – for advancing the bipartisan legislation that supports farmers, grain handlers, and the broader agricultural supply chain.
“A long-term farm bill is essential to maintaining a strong and competitive U.S. agricultural sector,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “This legislation provides the certainty needed for businesses across the grain and feed industry to make investments, manage risk, and continue supporting a resilient and efficient supply chain.”
NGFA also welcomed the inclusion of an amendment that would reauthorize the U.S. Grain Standards Act, which ensures continuity for the federal grain inspection and weighing system that underpins domestic and international confidence in U.S. grain.
“We are grateful to Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks for her efforts to reauthorize the U.S. Grain Standards Act, which is critical to avoiding disruptions in Official grain inspection services and reinforcing the reliability and integrity of the U.S. grain marketing system,” Seyfert said. “These authorities are foundational to maintaining global trust in U.S. agriculture. We thank Chairman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson and Ranking Member Angie Craig for moving this amendment forward. NGFA also recognizes the leadership of Subcommittee Chairman Austin Scott and Ranking Member Sharice Davids for their work in advancing key provisions that support the grain and feed industry.”
NGFA noted that key provisions in the farm bill align with industry priorities, including maintaining the current Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) cap and increased funding for the Market Access Program (MAP) and other important trade programs, which play a key role in strengthening export opportunities and supporting the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture.
NGFA looks forward to working with leaders in the U.S. Senate and the administration to secure final passage, President Trump’s signing, and implementation of the legislation, and to ensure it delivers long-term benefits for the entire agricultural value chain.
