ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 16, 2026 — The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today welcomed the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026, bipartisan legislation that supports critical investments in the nation’s inland waterways infrastructure.

NGFA commended House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.), Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-Wash.), and members of the House for their bipartisan work to advance the legislation.

“House passage of WRDA is an important step toward ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the waterways infrastructure that U.S. agriculture depends on every day,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “We welcome the strong bipartisan support for this legislation and urge the Senate to act swiftly so Congress can send a final WRDA bill to the president’s desk this year.”

NGFA particularly welcomes provisions supporting continued investment in the nation’s locks and dams and preserving reliable navigation on the Columbia-Snake River System, a vital transportation corridor for U.S. agriculture and agricultural exports.

America’s grain and feed industry depends on an efficient, interconnected transportation system to remain competitive in domestic and global markets. Continued investment in locks, dams and other navigation infrastructure helps improve supply chain reliability and support farmers, agribusinesses and rural communities.

WRDA legislation advanced unanimously out of both the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, underscoring its strong bipartisan support.

“NGFA looks forward to working with Senate leaders to advance WRDA and complete this important bipartisan legislation,” Seyfert said.
